Brandywine
Brandywine creek was British territory, and the British tried to trick the Americans into attacking a small force with all of their armies by sending a small group from one side, and concentrating all of the force on the other side an hour later to catch the Americans off guard in 1777. Observing the odd sized attack force reported by his scouts who had stopped at a tavern to rest and were caught off guard, washington suspected the British were attempting to distract the Americans and to attack from behind and he met them with slightly larger forces. When the British finally did attack, there were several American generals and armies who had been warned earlier by a messenger sent Washington waiting.
