DAughters of Liberty
All of the patriots were true to their cause, and a handful of the women formed the Daughters of Liberty in 1766. The Daughters of Liberty helped the colonies become independent by making homespun goods instead of paying British taxes on imported goods as required by the Townshend Act.. They had spinning bees and spread the word of the Patriots. When the men went of to fight in the army, the Daughters of Liberty took over their jobs and defended the towns.
