Townshend acts
The colonists protested on the Stamp and Sugar Acts, so the British decided to repeal them and administer a new tax in 1767. The Townshend Revenue Act put a tax on just about everything from wax to paper. This new tax proposed by Charles Townshend, was the last straw for the colonists. They began protesting even more by boycotting British goods and refusing to buy from importers, eventually leading up to the Revolutionary War.
